Not only is the music exceptional the food is as well. The entrees I've tried, from ettoufee to Jambalaya to the catfish has never let me down. This is my new favorite place and their Jazz nights are on my calender. With well over half a dozen visits and I can't recall a dissapointind dish delivered to our table. Nola is really a treasure especially for us folks who live in Maple Grove. We are lucky indeed. Thank you so much for being brave enough and putting up something so unique for folks in this area. In the world of jazz, one of these gems is the Nola Bar and Bistro, featuring local talent from bebop to swing, and from neo-bop to fusion, and the classical New Orleans Dixieland Jazz. Many of the musicians are somehow related to, and/or suggested by the talented Cherri Sykes - who also teaches music in her studio located in the building.
The Avant-garde Nola Bar & Bistro, just 20 minutes NW of Minneapolis is unique, daring, even radical - and is host to an eclectic night jazz scene that’s as fresh as the local and New Orleans classical food it serves featuring Jambalaya, Etoufees, Po-Boys and burgers. This eatery in downtown Osseo transforms its main restaurant dining room into a lounge to showcase a longtime Minnesota jazz artists, and is continously seeking new artists and bands and music groups to showcase.
Located in the heart of downtown quaint and charming Osseo, this place is on main street but easy to miss, and does not look spectacular from the outside. But, once you enter, and follow a narrow passagway reminiscent of a New Orleans alleyway, lighted by giant blue lanterns - all of a sudden, the main dining room with its large paintings, iron work and large majenta hanging lights bursts out in front of you!
Somehow, this neighborhood treasure has combined it all – café, wine bar and music venue – and done it in a friendly way. Here listeners will find a musical menu that’s heavy on jazz but peppered with a few surprises. Bar drinks inclide New Orleans speciality drinks such as the famous Hurricane, the Sazerac and the Pimms Cup - and craft beer on tap. And all this, in a modern room that’s dark enough to be sleek and sexy, but warm enough to feel welcoming.
French Quarter Music assumes various styles of music which have often borrowed from earlier traditions. New Orleans is especially known for its strong association with jazz music, universally considered to be the birthplace of the genre.
Come, Experience the music of the French Quarter in Minnesota in quaint Osseo
