Looking to find Restaurants in Maple Grove?

Maple Grove city, in Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States has a population was 61,567 at the 2010 census. Maple Grove has the Arbor Lakes Shoppes and is the retail, cultural and medical center of the northwest region of the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area. The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes, Maple Grove with its many, many restaurants is one of the Twin Cities largest shopping centers.

Winnebago Indians were the only inhabitants in the area of Maple Grove until 1851 when Louis Gervais arrived and settled. Four years later, in 1855, city growth included a church, town hall and many homes. The city was known for its large stands of maple trees and was, therefore, a significant source for maple syrup. With the completion and major upgrades to Interstates 94 / 694, 494, and U.S. Route 169, Maple Grove has grown at a rapid pace since the 1970s. Maple Grove has grown into one of the most populous cities in the Twin Cities area and is one of the fastest growing cities in the state.

Maple Grove is home to a regional Boston Scientific research, development and manufacturing facility, employing over 3,000 people. Other major employers include the Independent School District 279 and the City of Maple Grove. The City is home to a 2,000-acre gravel mining area (GMA) owned by C.S. McCrossan, Tiller Corporation and Aggregate Industries. Active since the 1920s, the GMA is slowly being developed into a residential and commercial downtown. The first phase included Main Street, a collection of one- and two-story buildings with storefronts built in new urbanist (or neotraditional) style. The second phase was generally considered to be the Shoppes of Arbor Lakes and the third phase was the Fountains at Arbor Lakes. Minnesota’s first so-called ‘lifestyle center’, The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes, is designed in the spirit of a mid-century American village and includes stores such as Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma, GoodThings, National Camera Exchange, Hot Mama, Teavana, Anthropologie, California Pizza Kitchen, P.F. Chang’s, and numerous other upscale stores. This lifestyle center was built in 2003 and has been replicated in Woodbury, Minnesota. Maple Grove’s Shoppes at Arbor Lakes is 412,000 square feet in size and is home to more than 65 stores and restaurants.

The most recent Arbor Lakes development is a hybrid power center development called The Fountains at Arbor Lakes. At 850,000 square feet, this retail complex includes stores such as Costco, Caribou Coffee, Subway, DSW, Lowe’s, REI and a Holiday Inn & Suites with a water park. The Fountains also includes Minnesota’s most energy efficient building, Great River Energy Headquarters. Maple Grove’s most recent development, The Grove, is located at the intersection of I-94 and Maple Grove Parkway. This district is home to the new North Memorial/Fairview hospital complex, SuperTarget, Home Depot, Slumberland and other stores. The central portion of the project is designed to be pedestrian-friendly and encourage a small-town atmosphere within the larger scale of the development.

Maple Grove is home to more retail and restaurants than nearly any other city in the state, second only to Bloomington, the home of the Mall of America. Maple Grove itself is likely to have nearly 6 million square feet (600,000 m²) of commercial development at build out, which may soon push the city into the number one spot for retail square-footage. One prominent retail complex is the Grove Square shopping mall, which has a JCPenney anchor store. Opus Northwest, the developer of the property, selected the location of the initial property development due to the fact that “it’s the first major city in upstate Minnesota” and serves as “a major hub for that submarket” drawing consumers from the entire upstate region.

Nola seems to be a restaurant slowly but surely finding its groove  (it opened this year and had new management take over in May), and a regular audience. The locals are finding out that it is a local gem and they are making it their treasured top picks like Lynn and Curt from Ramsey and Jake and Dina from Anoka and Paul and Meg Schulz from Osseo. NOLA is a cozy local favorite and a destination restaurant for the Twin cities.

Arbor Lakes is a commercial and residential district located in downtown Maple Grove, Minnesota, a northwestern suburb of Minneapolis. Construction of Arbor Lakes began in the late 1990s with a simulacrum of a traditional American Main Street designed in neotraditional style. The second phase (completed in 2003) included the Shoppes at Arbor Lakes, Minnesota's first lifestyle center, which includes neotraditional elements. The third phase, The Fountains at Arbor Lakes, is approximately 850,000 square feet (79,000 m2) in size and includes a Main Street-inspired entrance, with two hotels, several restaurants, and a number of junior anchors. The fourth phase, Reflections at Arbor Lakes, will include a four-star Radisson Hotel, senior housing, office complexes, and some retail.

The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes is a 412,000-square-foot (38,300 m2) lifestyle center located at the intersection of Hemlock Lane and Elm Creek Boulevard in Maple Grove, Minnesota. The mall was designed by KKE Architects of Minneapolis and developed by Opus Northwest in collaboration with Red Development. The center opened September 12, 2003. The Shoppes are designed to have the look and feel of a traditional Main Street. Unlike a regional mall, which would have anchor tenants (generally department stores such as Macy's or Nordstrom's), the lifestyle center aims to have smaller, boutique-styled stores.

In keeping with the lifestyle center tradition, the Shoppes at Arbor Lakes is made up of mainly upscale national chains such as Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma, Brooks Brothers, P.F. Chang's China Bistro, Banana Republic, Anthropologie, Coldwater Creek, Talbots, Express, Lane Bryant, Victoria's Secret, The Gap, J.Crew, and American Eagle.

Local stores also have a presence at the Shoppes. Hot Mama, which also has a location at Edina's 50th & France shopping district, Francesca's Collections, and GoodThings represent the local presence at the Shoppes.

The primary target markets for lifestyle centers such as the Shoppes are affluent women and youth. These demographic groups also happen to have the most purchasing power in the United States of America.

In 2005, Opus and Red Development worked to open Woodbury Lakes in Woodbury, Minnesota, an eastern suburb that shares similar demographics with Maple Grove. In October 2009, Woodbury Lakes went into bankruptcy, but remains open to the public.

The Fountains at Arbor Lakes[edit]

The Fountains at Arbor Lakes is a "hybrid power center" retail concept, approximately 850,000 square feet (79,000 m2) in size (nearby Ridgedale, while an enclosed regional mall, contains approximately the same square footage).

Junior anchors include national chains such as REI, Dick's Sporting Goods, DSW and Marshall's. Anchors include Lowe's, Costco, a Venetian-themed Holiday Inn and Suites with 20,000-square-foot (1,900 m2) indoor water park, Courtyard by Marriott and a 30,000-square-foot (2,800 m2) Dave and Buster's entertainment facility and restaurant. The shopping center also features at its main entrance a Main Street simulacrum, which is designed to inspire an urban, pedestrian-friendly coexistence with vehicular traffic.

The retail center has several small land parcels available for development, while the majority of the center is leased.

The Reflections at Arbor Lakes[edit]

As part of the most recent phase of the Arbor Lakes regional commercial center, Reflections at Arbor Lakes will feature several multi-story office buildings (modeled after Edina's Centennial Lakes high-rise office district), a Radisson hotel and several retail components. The Maple Grove City Council approved the project in early 2008.
